Hi Jack. Do you mean 2nd ed rules or models?

Either way I must have over 2000 pts of Grey Knights so would be happy to give you a game at some point. Might be after Xmas though...

Cheers Jonathan

How does everyone feel about the use of old codexes?

I'm only asking as I've been reading over the new grey knights codex and it seems so dull compared to the last edition. If I started collecting grey knights then I would like to include a few inquisition models and mordrak and his ghost knights which are only in the last edition.

I feel they have changed, but can't put my finger on why. The fluff/stories are OK and they are full colour, and apart from losing all the non-GK stuff, what is left has more or less the same options it did before. Psychic powers got replaced by the rulebook versions and overall more useful I think.

Some stuff got a bit better or worse, or cheaper.  If I use multiple detachments like Inquisition and Assassins, the army looks more or less the same as it did before.

If you hit the right warlord trait you can more or less still use Mordrak, but no more ghostly terminators.  Bit silly that you can't base your army round this as you have only 1in6 chance of getting it. Maybe we'll get a dataslate for him.

Which is my only real gripe with the new codexes.  If you want to vary your army, you have to buy supplements for it.  Preciously it was self contained - you could swap around entries or there would be whole variant lists in the main book.

Sounds like another way for games workshop to make more money. Especially as the supplements usually cost as much as the codex. I know that the iyanden supplement only has 2 pages of additional rules which just doesn't seem worth it. However, I did like the eye of terror supplement that came out about 10 years ago as it contained the rules for 4 variant lists. Those were the days!
